The EP 'For Tommy' is named for and dedicated to Tommy Davitt, my first drum teacher. Tommy was a patient and encouraging teacher, but more importantly, provided a place for an awkward teenager to feel validated and understood. Regrettably, I lost contact with Tommy as the years went by, and was saddened to hear of his passing. Nowadays, he keeps an eye out for me in the form of some old hi-hat cymbals marked with his name, reminding me to always be guided by innocent, flawed, joyful music-making. I hope this collection of music will imbue listeners with some of that spirit. Even though my Big Brothers and I worked hard on the minutiae of these songs and arrangements, I think the energy and vibrancy of the performance shines through more than any chord extension or rhythmic sleight-of-hand. I hope you feel the same way, and thank you for listening. -B
